The information session is therefore valid until the next major amendment to the Marine Mammal Regulations.<\/p><p>An assistant hunter also does not have to renew their permit every year, but to become a professional hunter, an assistant hunter, from the age of 18, will automatically become a professional after having officially recorded hunting activities supervised by a professional\/commercial for two consecutive years.<\/p><p>If he skips a year, he starts again at year 1.<\/p><p>Once professional, the seal hunter MUST renew his permit annually, otherwise he will lose it and will have to start the departure process again. You must then:<\/p><ul><li>Register for the National Online Licensing System (NOLS) at <a href=\"https:\/\/fishing-peche.dfo-mpo.gc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/fishing-peche.dfo-mpo.gc.ca\/<\/a>. For assistance, you can contact customer service at the toll-free number 1-877-535-7307.<\/li><li>Once the secure login is complete, you must apply for a licence online.<\/li><li>In Application Type, select New Licence Application.<\/li><li>In the Application Subtype tab, select either Seal-Hunter&#8217;s Assistant Permit (allowing you to accompany a professional) or Seal-Personal Use Permit, giving you access to a maximum of six (6) seals per year (either gray seal or harp seal).<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-701dbdf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"701dbdf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>N.B.: The personal use permit is only available to those who have a permanent address in one of the coastal regions designated by the DFO (Magdalen Islands, North Shore, Gasp\u00e9sie, Lower St. Lawrence).
